Pros
Cons
1. Performance
The OnePlus 9 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 888 chipset, which still feels lightning-fast in 2024.
I’ve been using the 12GB RAM model, and switching between apps is seamless. Even with the latest Android 14 update, the performance hasn’t lagged at all.
2. Display
The OnePlus 9 Pro’s 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED display is one of its standout features. The 120Hz refresh rate makes scrolling through apps and webpages feel smooth, and the 1440x3216 resolution delivers sharp, vibrant visuals.
I’ve enjoyed watching videos on this display—the colors are rich, and it’s bright enough for outdoor use.
3. Camera System
OnePlus teamed up with Hasselblad to fine-tune the cameras on the 9 Pro, and the results are great, particularly in terms of color accuracy.
The main 48MP camera takes sharp photos in good lighting, and even in low light, the images hold up fairly well. The 50MP ultrawide lens is great for landscape shots, capturing plenty of detail.
The 8MP telephoto lens offers a 3.3x optical zoom, which is decent, though I’ve noticed that it struggles a bit in low light. The 16MP front camera does a solid job for selfies and video calls, keeping images clear without over-smoothing.
4. Battery Life and Fast Charging
The OnePlus 9 Pro comes with a 4500mAh battery, which comfortably lasts me a day with regular use. I usually end the day with around 20-30% battery left after browsing, messaging, and watching videos.
One of the best things about this phone is its charging speed. With the included 65W wired charger, I can go from 0 to 100% in just under 30 minutes.
5. Build and Design
The OnePlus 9 Pro has a premium feel, with Gorilla Glass 5 on both the front and back and an aluminum frame. It’s slightly heavier than some other phones at 197g, but I found it comfortable to hold for extended periods.
The curved edges and slim profile make it feel sleek, though the glass back can be slippery, so I recommend using a case.
The phone comes in a few color options, but the Morning Mist version I’ve been using has a nice gradient effect that catches the light in a subtle, premium way. It’s also IP68-rated for water and dust resistance in certain regions, which adds peace of mind.
The OnePlus 9 Pro remains a solid choice in 2024 for anyone looking for a high-performing smartphone. With its smooth 120Hz display, fast charging, and Hasselblad-tuned cameras, it still feels relevant even a few years after its release.
Sure, it heats up a bit during extended use, and the lack of a microSD slot or 3.5mm headphone jack might be disappointing for some, but overall, it’s a phone that delivers where it counts.
