At 1080 x 2400 resolution, it’s sharp enough to handle everything from reading to gaming without strain, and the Gorilla Glass 5 protection keeps it durable.

2. Performance

Powered by the Snapdragon 865, the OnePlus 8 easily manages demanding tasks due to an efficient octa-core setup and Adreno 650 GPU.

Multitasking is seamless, especially on the 8GB or 12GB RAM models, and OxygenOS keeps the experience clean and responsive, with little to no bloatware.

3. Camera Setup

The triple-camera system offers decent versatility. The main 48MP lens captures sharp, detailed images, especially in good lighting.

The 16MP ultrawide lens is great for landscapes and group photos, while the 2MP macro lens is fun to experiment with, even if it’s not an everyday necessity. The 16MP front camera does well for selfies and video calls, producing clear images in most settings.

4. Battery Life

With a 4300mAh battery, the OnePlus 8 provides a full day’s usage even with regular activity. The 30W fast charging is especially handy for quick recharges, reaching 50% in just over 20 minutes.

While wireless charging isn’t included, the quick top-up capability makes a noticeable difference for users on the go.

5. Build

The OnePlus 8 has a quality feel in hand with its Gorilla Glass 5 front and back, combined with an aluminum frame. At 180g, it’s light enough for extended one-handed use without feeling overly large.

The dual-SIM feature is helpful for those who manage multiple lines, and with color options like Glacial Green and Interstellar Glow, there’s a bit of variety to match individual tastes.

Final Thoughts

The OnePlus 8 remains a solid choice for those wanting reliable performance, a vibrant display, and a camera setup that covers most needs.

The fast charging and strong battery life make it suitable for daily use without frequent recharges. It’s missing features like wireless charging and expandable storage, but the essentials are here.

There is a terrible bug/hardware issue that needs to be acknowledged: the edges of the screen have a very big input lag that will often result in you writing couples of letters with switched position to what you typed(for example if you type "pi" fast enough you will often get "ip"), making the touchscreen useless and since this is not getting any concern from oneplus over the numerous reports it's probably just an hardware thing that they are trying to hide, hoping people will just feel retarded for suddenly not being able to type anymore.

I got both phones. And I'm extremely satisfied with both experiences. But i recommend the 8 for a longer term updates and better handling as the pro 7 was bulkie and heavier than the 8. Charging is also an advantage in the 8.

Only in the 8 Pro, unless you root it to enable the infrared camera again.

One plus quality of phones is going down with every iteration. I used to love my OnePlus 5t but I dislike my OnePlus 8. Does not feel as smooth as 5t. Switching back to Samsung Galaxy S series

I think I'd choose the nord 2 over the vanilla oneplus 8. The oneplus 8's camera setup is really outdated, and gcam mod can only help it so much. opiniozone testing indicates that the nord can do internet browsing for a bit longer than the 8, and it also charges much faster. The nord 2 also comes with a flat screen, which will make finding a decent case/tempered glass combo easier.
