Honor X70i 5G

The Honor X70i 5G, launched in April 2025, enters the competitive mid-range smartphone market with a compelling mix of features: a vibrant AMOLED display, a capable 108MP camera, and a massive 6000mAh battery. Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7025 Ultra chipset, it aims to deliver flagship-level performance at a pocket-friendly price. After testing this device for several weeks, I’m impressed by its balance of affordability and functionality. But does it stand up to rivals like the Samsung Galaxy A35 5G or Xiaomi Redmi Note 14? Let’s dive into the details to find out if the Honor X70i 5G is a smart investment in 2025.

Pros
  • You’re getting a sweet deal here—this thing starts at around $200 (that’s like, “skip two fancy dinners” money).
  • That 6.7-inch AMOLED screen? Gorgeous. Super smooth too, thanks to the 120Hz refresh rate. Scrolling Instagram or doomscrolling Twitter? Chef’s kiss.
  • 6000mAh battery. Translation: you can forget your charger at home and probably still be fine for a couple days. Heck, play games all day and you’ll still have juice.
  • Main camera is 108MP. That’s a lotta megapixels, my friend. Photos come out looking vibrant and actually kinda impressive for a phone at this price.
  • It’s got 5G (duh, it’s in the name), plus it won’t freak out if you splash some water on it. IP65 certified, so yeah, bring on the dust and rain.
  • Weighs barely anything—178.5g. Seriously, you’ll forget it’s in your pocket.
Cons
  • No microSD slot, so forget about popping in extra storage. Annoying if you’re a photo hoarder like me.
  • Only has one rear camera. No ultrawide, no telephoto, just your basic “point and shoot.” A bit basic, honestly.
  • No headphone jack. Welcome to the future. Hope you like dongles or wireless buds.
  • 1080p video only. In 2025. C’mon, even grandma’s phone can do 4K now.
  • No wireless charging. Yeah, not a huge deal for some, but still kinda “meh” when other phones have it.

Design:

Not gonna lie, it looks sleek. It’s super thin (7.3mm!) and feels sturdy even though it’s mostly plastic and aluminum. The IP65 rating is nice—so you don’t have to panic if it gets a little wet. The colors are fun too—Magnolia Purple and Sky Blue? I mean, why not. Flat AMOLED panel and barely-there bezels, so it’s mostly screen. Fits good in the hand, doesn’t feel cheap.

Display:

This is probably the best part. 6.7 inches, 120Hz refresh rate, 1080x2412 pixels—so, sharp and smooth. And 3500 nits peak brightness? You can literally use it outside in broad daylight and still see everything. It actually keeps up with stuff like the Galaxy A35 5G, especially with colors and brightness. If you binge Netflix or play games, you’ll dig it.

Camera:

Okay, so only one rear camera, but it’s a beefy 108MP sensor. Photos turn out nice and punchy, especially when there’s decent light. It does alright in low light too, but don’t expect magic. No OIS, so shaky hands beware. No ultrawide or zoom lens either, which sucks if you like different angles. Video tops out at 1080p@30fps. That’s… not great for 2025. Selfies are decent with the 8MP front camera, but low light selfies? Yeah, maybe stick to Snapchat filters.

Battery and Charging:

This thing’s a battery champ. 6000mAh means you’ll go well over a day, maybe two or more if you’re not glued to your screen. 35W fast charging is pretty solid—half charged in about 25 minutes, which is a lifesaver if you need to run out the door. Wireless charging is missing, which stings a bit if you’re used to just plopping your phone on a pad.

Software:

Runs Android 15 with MagicOS 9. The UI is actually nice and not overloaded with garbage apps. Privacy features like clipboard warnings–kind of cool, actually. Dimensity 7025 Ultra chip keeps things snappy. You can multitask, game, whatever. Benchmarks are good for the price range, but it’s not blowing away something like the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 in the Galaxy A35 5G. Still, unless you’re a hardcore mobile gamer, you won’t care.

The Honor X70i 5G is honestly a killer deal for what you’re paying. Gorgeous screen, battery that just won’t quit, and a main camera that punches well above its weight. Light, easy to hold, and 5G, obviously. Downsides? A bit barebones on the camera front, no headphone jack, and you can’t expand storage. If you’re all about battery life and a flashy screen, this is a no-brainer. If you want to shoot 4K videos or need more than one camera lens? Eh, maybe look elsewhere. But for most folks? Totally worth it.
