Key Features of OnePlus 9R

1. Performance

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 5G chipset makes the OnePlus 9R a workhorse for daily use. I had multiple apps open, switched between tasks, and it handled it all without any lag.

Even with graphically demanding games, the phone didn’t overheat or stutter, which is a huge plus for those who like to game on the go.

2. Battery Life and Fast Charging

I found the 4500mAh battery reliable for a full day's use, even with moderate gaming, streaming, and social media use. What I really appreciated, though, was the 65W Warp Charge. In just 39 minutes, the phone goes from empty to fully charged.

It doesn't support wireless charging, but personally, I found the fast wired charging more than enough to make up for it.

3. Display Quality

The 6.55-inch Fluid AMOLED display is one of the highlights of this phone. The 120Hz refresh rate makes scrolling through apps feel silky smooth, and the display itself is vibrant and sharp. Watching Netflix, browsing photos, or just reading text looks great.

Even under bright sunlight, the screen remains clear and readable due to HDR10+ support and excellent brightness levels.

4. Camera Performance

The camera setup includes a 48MP main sensor, 16MP ultrawide, 5MP macro, and a 2MP monochrome lens. In good lighting, I found the main camera impressive—photos came out crisp, with good color reproduction.

The ultrawide lens was handy for capturing group photos or landscapes, although the quality dropped in low light. The macro and monochrome lenses felt more like niche add-ons rather than essential features.

Selfies from the 16MP front camera looked natural, and video calls were clear. The phone can shoot 4K videos, which is great for users who like to record high-quality clips.

However, it struggles a bit in low light, so it’s best to stick with well-lit environments for both photos and videos.

5. Build Quality and Design

At 189g, the OnePlus 9R feels light enough to use comfortably all day. I liked the Gorilla Glass protection on both sides—it gives the phone a premium feel and makes it less prone to scratches. The aluminum frame adds to the overall durability, although I wish it had an official IP rating for water resistance.

The lack of a headphone jack might be annoying for those who still use wired headphones, but for me, Bluetooth audio worked just fine.

Final Thoughts

After using the OnePlus 9R, I can confidently say it's a solid all-around smartphone. It balances performance, battery life, and display quality in a way that makes it suitable for almost any type of user.

While it doesn’t pack the most advanced features, it covers all the essentials and does so at a reasonable price point.
